Animation as cultural artefact can be evidenced in notions of 'life' and 'liveliness' 'nature' and the 'supernatural', in nature-culture and this can be evidenced in the examination of special and visual animated background effects in cgi and 'material' object animation.
This can be explored through practice in a number of experimental tests at the interface between cgi and craft materiality with a specific focus on energy, agency and nature.
